Down on the Farm

Our family has TONS of stuff going on every year in April & May. My poor husband...here's a break-down:
  • April 28th - My birthday (yep - 30 this year...ouch)
  • May 4th - Our anniversary (8 years)
  • May 9th - Mother's Day
  • May 19th - Talan's birthday (4 this year)
So, this year he surprised me with a getaway (well, he told me about a week in advance since he knew I would need to coordinate my work schedule, the kids, etc.). We were headed to Hocking Hills near Athens, Ohio. Very peaceful, rustic, farm area. For those of you who know me well, you know this is right up my alley. I love the "simple" life! After talking it over, we decided it would be a perfect place to take Talan. He loves to ride his dirtbike and the farm house that we rented had hundreds of acres full of riding trails. How could we not take him? So, it went from a peaceful, romantic getaway to a vacation with our little man, but that was fine with us. We knew he would be in heaven!

About 2 hours before we were about to leave, Trista had a very serious reflux episode that lasted at least 10 straight minutes and she seemed to be aspirating (which means that the fluid was getting into her lungs) because she was unable to catch her breath. This happens about once a month and it is very scary. Needless to say, I was in no state of mind to leave her behind. So, we made the executive decision to take her along with us too. Our romantic 2 person getaway was now a full fledged family vacation. Pretty comical, but that's what being a parent is all about. Rolling with the punches! :)It was such a beautiful place. Here is a picture of the farm house. It had a beautiful pond in the back...it was so peaceful. Just like a little slice of heaven.
We went 4 wheeling, grilled out, swam and just enjoyed each other. It was wonderful and we were so happy that the kids were with us. I enjoyed EVERY moment of that weekend!

I have some exciting news....
TRISTA SAID "MA-MA"!!! It was such a special moment and one that I will never forget! It brought tears to my eyes, especially since I have been told (and came to terms with) the fact that she may never speak clearly. Man - is she proving them wrong or WHAT? That's my little miracle! Keep those prayers coming because they are certainly working!

More exciting news...
Talan will be turning 4 on Wednesday. I just cannot believe how time flies! It seems like he was just turning 1 yesterday and here he is riding dirt bikes. I love that little man more than he will ever know. All you mom's out there know exactly what I mean..there are no words to express the overwhelming love you have for your child and there is no better day to celebrate that than on their birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TALAN! WE LOVE YOU!
