Never Ending...

There is a lot to update, so bear with me.

Early last week I took Trista in for her 9 month check-up. There were some concerns. Trista had only gained 2 pounds since August. She's now up to 13.3 pounds which puts her in the zero percentile. This concerned the doctor so we are increasing her calories once again. Hopefully she will gain more weight with this. Her head measured great, so at least we know her brain is growing!!! We know she's smart! :)

Another concern was her eyes. The doctor commented on how "droopy" Trista's eyelids are and decided to refer her on to an Opthamologist at Children's. Apparently there is a surgical procedure that they can do to lift the eyelids. They just want to be sure that her vision isn't being impaired.

She also had a low-grade fever while we were there so the doctor asked me to monitor her throughout the night and in to the next morning. The last thing she needs right now is pneumonia, so they wanted us to watch her closely.

Her fever went down over the next day or two, but she started having cold symptoms. By Thursday night, the entire right side of her face was swollen and her eye was completely shut. Her eyes were pussing and looked HORRIBLE! After contacting her Pediatrician he directed us to head to the ER (since it was after hours). We were there for a LONG time. They did a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. Diagnosis was Bacterial Eye Infection. They sent us home with antibiotic eye ointment to apply 2x per day and told us to follow up with her Pediatrician on Friday.

So, off to the Pediatrician we went on Friday. Her doctor looked her over and decided to continue with the eye cream and see if she improves. The weekend was rough. She wasn't able to open her eyes the majority of the weekend and she was miserable. She wouldn't sleep through the night and was fussy - I would be too if I couldn't see!!!

I had to stay home from work today and take her back to the doctor for them to re-assess her. While she still has a runny nose, cough and her eyes aren't great, we are going to wait it out another day before we start her on oral antibiotic. They simply do not want to use antibiotics on her unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. They do not want her to become immune to it in the event she needs it for a more serious illness fown the road.

Oh and to add to it all - Scott just returned from the doctor and he has Strep Throat and Bronchitis. Fun times at our house right now. LOTS of Lysol!!!!

In other news, Trista has her FIRST TOOTH!! That's right - finally on December 1st it popped on through!! She loves moving her tongue over it to feel it...she's constantly trying to figure out what's going on in there!

That's it for now. There is more to tell, but I think I've typed enough. Have a great week! :)
